Orbio EarthTracking methane emissions with satellites

Orbio uses satellite imagery to track methane emissions from the oil & gas industry. We sell the data to financial companies that want to invest into the best performing energy companies. Until today, oil & gas companies use excel-based emission factors to calculate and report their emissions. As these excel-based emission factors underestimate actual emissions by ~70%, the finance companies that invest into oil & gas can’t mitigate against incoming risks from new regulations, We have built a technology that can for the first time use satellite images to track methane from every single oil & gas facility on the planet, replacing emission factors and allowing finance companies to make the best bets on oil & gas companies that will withstand a wide avalanche of incoming regulation. In the summer 2023 our satellite-based technology got ranked 1 both in terms of accuracy and sensitivity of methane emission events by Stanford University in a peer-reviewed study, beating a range of multi-bn dollar competitors like Maxar. More About Orbio Earth

Orbio Earth - Actionable Methane Intelligence

Introduction

Orbio Earth empowers the financial and energy sectors to reduce financial risk by staying ahead of regulations through asset-level emission insights and identification of abatement opportunities.

Key Features

  • Real-Time Methane Monitoring: Utilize real-time measurement data from satellites to inform existing methane management, reduction, and compliance activities across site, asset, region, and company scales.
  • Prove Super-Emitter Durations: Time box start and end data of super-emitters in your portfolio for operational assurance, preventing the 91-day assumed duration of super-emitters under the EPA program.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Link emission events to site and source types, cross-analyzing emissions data to understand which types of sites and sources lead to the most persistent large emission events in your portfolio.

Use Cases

  • Oil & Gas Operators: Detect emissions before anybody else and prioritize reduction opportunities via best-in-class methane emissions measurements for every piece of oil & gas infrastructure on earth.
  • Financial Sector: Reduce energy portfolio risk with global methane emission tracking, staying ahead of regulations through asset-level emission insights.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with impending regulations such as the IRA methane fee in the US and forthcoming EU regulations.
